Tyler Reddick to Start Xfinity Race from Tail of Field Following Penalty

Tyler Reddick is going to have a tall hill to climb on Friday night if he wants to finish well in the Food City 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Richard Childress Racing’s No. 2 Chevrolet failed technical inspection four times prior to qualifying. As a result, car chief Cam Strader has been sent home, with the team being penalized 10 driver and owner points. Additionally, Reddick will not be allowed to qualify, forced to start from the tail of the field and serve a pass through penalty down pit road once the green flag is waved.

RCR has been in the spotlight with penalties over the past couple of weeks, as the qualifying times for Austin Dillon and Daniel Hemric were thrown out during last week’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway. They were also penalized for a modified deck lid in the Cup series earlier this year on Dillon’s car at Talladega Superspeedway.
